Monajat Al-Taebin ( The whispered prayer of the Repenters )

| In the name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful | Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem |
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم |
| 1-My God, offenses have clothed me in the garment of my lowliness | Elaahee albasatnil khataaayaa sawba mazallatee |
1-إلهِي أَلْبَسَتْنِي الْخَطايا ثَوْبَ مَذَلَّتِي |
| separation from Thee has wrapped me in the clothing of my misery! | wa jallalanit tabaa-o’do minka lebaasa maskanatee | ، وَجَلَّلَنِي التَّباعُدُ مِنْكَ لِباسَ مَسْكَنَتِي |
| My dreadful crimes have deadened my heart | wa amaata qalbee a’zeemo janaayatee | وَأَماتَ قَلْبِي عَظِيمُ جِنايَتِي |
| so bring it to life by a repentance from Thee! O my hope and my aim! | fa-ahyehi betawbatin minka yaa amalee wa bughyatee | فَأَحْيِه بِتَوْبَة مِنْكَ يا أَمَلِي وَبُغْيَتِي |
| O my wish and my want! | wa yaa soa-lee wa munyatee | وَيا سُؤْلِي وَمُنْيَتِي |
| By Thy might, I find no one but Thee to forgive my sins | fawa-i’zzate maa ajedo le-zonoobee sewaaka ghaaferan | فَوَ عِزَّتِكَ ما أَجِدُ لِذُنُوبِي سِواكَ غافِراً |
| and I see none but Thee to mend my brokenness! | wa laa araa lekasree ghayraka jaaberan | وَلا أَرى لِكَسْرِي غَيْرَكَ جابِراً |
| I have subjected myself to Thee in repeated turning | wa qad khaza’to bil-enaabate elayka | وَقَدْ خَضَعْتُ بِالإنابَةِ إلَيْكَ |
| I have humbled myself to Thee in abasement | wa a’nawto bil-istekaanate ladayka | وَعَنَوْتُ بِالاسْتِكانَةِ لَدَيْكَ |
| If Thou castest me out from Thy door, in whom shall I take shelter? | fa-in tarad-tanee min baabeka fabeman aloozo | فَإنْ طَرَدْتَنِي مِنْ بابِكَ فَبِمَنْ أَلُوذُ؟ |
| If Thou repellest me from Thy side, in whom shall I seek refuge? | wa in radad-tanee a’n janaabeka fabeman a-o’ozo | وَإنْ رَدَدْتَنِي عَنْ جَنابِكَ فَبِمَنْ أَعُوذُ؟ |
| O my grief at my ignominy and disgrace! | fawaa asafaaho min khajlatee waftezaahee | فَوا أَسَفاهُ مِنْ خَجْلَتِي وَافْتِضَاحِي |
| O my sorrow at my evil works and what I have committed! | wa waalafaaho min sooo-e a’malee wajteraahee | وَوالَهْفاهُ مِنْ سُوءِ عَمَلِي وَاجْتِراحِي |
| 2-I ask Thee, O Forgiver of great sins | as-aloka yaa ghaaferaz zambil kabeere |
2-أَسْأَلُكَ يا غافِرَ الذَّنْبِ الْكَبِيرِ |
| O Mender of broken bones | wa yaa jaaberal a’zmil kaseere | وَيا جابِرَ الْعَظْمِ الْكَسِيرِ |
| to overlook my ruinous misdeeds | an tahaba lee moobeqaatil jaraaa-ere | أَنْ تَهَبَ لِي مُوبِقاتِ الْجَرآئِرِ |
| and cover my disgraceful secret thoughts! | wa tastora a’layya faazehaatis saraaa-era | وَتَسْتُرَ عَلَيَّ فاضِحاتِ السَّرآئِرِ |
| At the witnessing place of the Resurrection, empty me not of the coolness of Thy pardon and forgiveness | wa laa tukhlenee fee mash-hadil qeyaamate min barde a’fweka wa ghafreka | وَلا تُخْلِنِي فِي مَشْهَدِ الْقِيامَةِ مِنْ بَرْدِ عَفْوِكَ وَغَفْرِكَ |
| and strip me not of Thy beautiful forbearance and covering! | wa laa to’renee min jameele safheka wa satreka | وَلا تُعْرِنِي مِنْ جَمِيلِ صَفْحِكَ وَسَتْرِكَ |
| My God, let the cloud of Thy mercy cast its shadow upon my sins | elaahee zallil a’laa zonoobee ghamaama rahmateka |
3-إلهِي ظَلِّلْ عَلَى ذُنُوبِي غَمامَ رَحْمَتِكَ |
| and send the billow of Thy clemency flowing over my faults! | wa arsil a’laa o’yoobee sahaaba raafateka | وَأَرْسِلْ عَلى عُيُوبِي سَحابَ رَأْفَتِكَ. |
|
My God, does the fugitive servant return to anyone other than his Master? |
elaahee hal yarje-o’l a’bdo aabeqo illaa elaa mawlaaho |
4 ـ إلهِي هَلْ يَرْجِعُ الْعَبْدُ الابِقُ إلاَّ إلَى مَوْلاهُ |
| Or does anyone grant him sanctuary from his Master’s wrath other than his Master Himself? | am hal yojeerohu min sakhatehi ahadun sawaaho | أَمْ هَلْ يُجِيرُهُ مِنْ سَخَطِهِ أَحَدٌ سِواهُ؟ |
| 5. My God, if remorse for sins is a repentance | elaahi in kaanan nadamo a’laz zambe tawbatan |
5 ـ إلهِي إنْ كانَ النَّدَمُ عَلَى الذَّنْب تَوْبَةً |
| I - by Thy might - am one of the remorseful! | fa-innee wa i’zzateka menan naademeena | فَإنِّي وَعِزَّتِكَ مِنَ النَّادِمِينَ |
| If praying forgiveness for offenses is an alleviation | wa in kaanal isteghfaaro menal khatee-ate hittatan | وَإنْ كَانَ الاسْتِغْفارُ مِنَ الْخَطيئَةِ حِطَّةً |
| I am one of those who pray forgiveness! | fa-innee laka menal mustaghfereena | فَإنِّي لَكَ مِنَ الُمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ |
| To Thee I return that Thou may be well pleased! | lakal u’tbaa hattaa tarzaa | لَكَ الْعُتْبى حَتّى تَرْضى |
| 6. My God, through Thy power over me, turn toward me | elaahee bequtrateka a’layya tub a’layya |
6 ـ إلهِي بِقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَيَّ تُبْ عَلَيَّ |
| through Thy clemency toward me, pardon me | wa behilmeka a’nnee a-a’fo a’nnee | وَبِحِلْمِكَ عَنِّي اعْفُ عَنِّي |
| and through Thy knowledge of me, be gentle toward me! | wa be-i’lmeka bee irfaq bee | وَبِعِلْمِكَ بِي ارْفَقْ بِي. |
| 7- My God, You are He who has opened a door to Your pardon and named it 'repentance ' | elaahi antal lazee fatahta le-e’baadeka baaban elaa a’fweka sammaytahut tawbata |
7 ـ إلهِي أَنْتَ الَّذي فَتَحْتَ لِعِبادِكَ بَابَاً إلَى عَفْوِكَ سَمَّيْتَهُ التَّوْبَةَ |
| for Thou said, Repent to God with unswerving repentance | faqulta tooboo elal laahe tawbatan nasoohan | فَقُلْتَ: ( تُوبُوا إلَى اللَّهِ تَوْبَةً نَصُوحَاً ) |
| What is the excuse of him who remains heedless of entering the door after its opening? | famaa u’zro man aghfala dokhoolal baabe ba’da fathehi | فَما عُذْرُ مَنْ أَغْفَلَ دُخُولَ الْبابِ بَعْدَ فَتْحِهِ. |
| 8- My God, though the sins of Thy servant are ugly, Thy pardon is beautiful. | elaahi in kaana qabohaz zambo min a’bdeka falyahsonil a’fwo min i’ndeka |
8 ـ إلهِي إنْ كانَ قَبُحَ الذَّنْبُ مِنْ عَبْدِكَ فَلْيَحْسُنِ الْعَفْوُ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ. |
| 9- My God, I am not the first to have disobeyed Thee | elaahi maa anaa be-awwale man a’saaka |
9 ـ إلهِي ما أَنَا بِأَوَّلِ مَنْ عَصاكَ |
| and Thou turned toward him | fa-tubta a’layhe | ، فَتُبْتَ عَلَيْهِ |
| or to have sought to attain Thy favour | wa ta-a’rraza lema’roofeka | وَتَعَرَّضَ بِمَعْرُوفِكَ |
| and Thou wert munificent toward him | fajudta a’layhe | فَجُدْتَ عَلَيْهِ |
| O Responder to the distressed! | yaa mojeebal muztarre | ، يا مُجِيبَ الْمُضْطَرِّ |
| O Remover of injury! | yaa kaashefaz zurre | ، يا كَاشِفَ الضُّرِّ |
| O Great in goodness! | yaa a’zeemal barre | يا عَظِيمَ الْبِرِّ |
| O Knower of everything secret! | yaa a’leeman bemaa fis sirre | يا عَليمَاً بِما فِي السِّرِّ |
| O Beautiful through covering over! | yaa jameelas sitri | يا جَمِيلَ السِّتْرِ |
| I seek Thy munificence and Thy generosity to intercede with Thee | stash-fa’to bejoodeka wa karameka elayka | اسْتَشْفَعْتُ بِجُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ إلَيْكَ |
| I seek Thy side and Thy showing mercy to mediate with Thee | wa tawassalto be-janaabeka wa tarahhomeka ladayka | وَتَوَسَّلْتُ بِجَنابِكَ وَتَرَحُّمِكَ لَدَيْكَ |
| so grant my supplication | fastajib do-a’aa-ee | فَاسْتَجِبْ دُعآئِي |
| disappoint not my hope in Thee | wa laa tokhayyeib feeka rajaaa-ee | وَلا تُخَيِّبْ فِيكَ رَجآئِي |
| accept my repentance, and hide my offense | wa taqabbal tawbatee wa kaffir khatee-atee | وَتَقَبَّلْ تَوْبَتِي وَكَفِّرْ خَطيئَتِي |
| through Thy kindness and mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful! | bemanneka wa rahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen | بِمَنِّكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ يا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ. |
