What is the Koran or Quran?
The Qur'an is the Holy Book of Islam, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad , and it is the literal word of Allah (swt). It was revealed over a period of 23 years by the angel Jibraeel. It consists of 114 Surahs (chapters) with 6236 ayahs (verses). The original text of the Qur'an is in Arabic, but it has been translated in a lot of languages.
