In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
1. All praise belongs to God Who created the heavens and the earth, and caused the darkness and the light; yet those who disbelieve hold (others) as equals with their Lord.
2. He it is Who created you of clay, then decreed the term (of your life); and a determined term is with Him, yet you doubt thereof.
3. He is God in the heavens and the earth! He knows your secrets and your disclosures! And He knows what you earn (for yourselves by your deeds).
4. Whenever any sign of their Lord reached them, they turned away from it.
5. They indeed rejected the truth when it came to them; therefore, very soon the tidings will come to them of what they mocked at.
6. Do they not see how many a generation before them, whom We had established in the earth (to the extent to) which We have not yet established you, We have destroyed? We sent the clouds to shower upon them abundantly, and We made the rivers flow beneath (their dwellings), yet We destroyed them for their sins and raised after them another generation.
7. Had We revealed to you a book written on paper, and had they touched it with their hands, surely those who disbelieved would have said: “This is naught but obvious sorcery.”
8. They say: “Why has no angel been sent down with Him?” Had We sent an angel down, the matter would have certainly been decided (once and for all) and they would not have been respited.
9. Had We made him an angel, We would have certainly made him a man, and We would certainly have confused them in what they already are confused about.
10. Certainly many messengers were mocked before you, but that which they mocked encompassed the scoffers among them.
11. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Travel throughout the world, then see what the end of those who reject (Our messengers) has been.”
12. Say: “To whom belongs what is in the heavens and the earth?” Say: “To God; He has prescribed mercy on Himself; most certainly He will gather you on the Day of Resurrection, there is no doubt about it; as for those who have ruined their souls, they will never believe.”
13. To Him belongs whatever dwells in the night and the day, and He is the all-Hearing, the all-Knowing.
14. Say: “Shall I take a guardian besides God, Originator of the heavens and the earth? While He feeds others and is not Himself fed?” Say: “I am commanded to be the first to submit to God, not to be one of the polytheists.”
15. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Verily I dread, should I disobey my Lord, the chastisement of a great day.
16. “From whomsoever it is averted on that day, indeed He had mercy on him, and this will be the manifest triumph.
17. “If God touches you with affliction, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He has power over all things.
18. “He is the Supreme Lord above His servants, and He is the all-Wise, the all-Aware.”
19. Say: “What is the weightiest in testimony?” Say: “God is witness between me and you, and this Qur’an has been revealed to me that I may thereby warn you, and whomsoever it reaches. Do you really bear witness that there are other gods with God?” Say: “I bear no such witness!” Say: “Verily, He is the One God, and verily I am away from that which you associate with Him.”
20. Those to whom We have given the Book know this as they know their own sons; yet those who have lost their souls will never believe.
21. Who is more unjust than that who forges a lie against God, or belies His signs? Verily, the unjust will never succeed.
22. On the day of Judgment, We shall gather them all together, then We shall say to those who associated others (with God): “Where are your associate-gods about whom you used to conjecture?”
23. Their excuse would be nothing but their cry: “By God, our Lord! We were not polytheists!”
24. Behold how they lie against their own selves, and that which they forged has passed away from them.
25. Of them are those who hearken to you, and We have cast veils over their hearts lest they should understand it, and a heaviness into their ears. Even if they see every sign, they will not believe in it; when they come to you, they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: “This is naught but the legends of the ancient.”
26. They prohibit others from it, and they themselves keep far away from it; they only destroy their own souls, but they do not perceive it.
27. Could you but see when they are made to confront the Fire, how they shall say: “Would that we were sent back, we would not reject the signs of our Lord, and we would be of the believers.”
28. Nay, it has been manifested to them what they had concealed before; had they been sent back, they would certainly have returned to what they were forbidden, and most certainly they are liars.
29. They say: “There is nothing beyond this life of ours in this world, and we are not to be raised again.”
30. Could you but see when they are made to stand before their Lord how He will say: “Is this not the truth?” They will say: “Yes, indeed, by our Lord!” He will say: “Taste then the chastisement for what you disbelieved.”
31. They are indeed losers those who disbelieved in the meeting of their God, until the hour (or Resurrection) suddenly approaches, they will say: “O our grief for our neglecting it!” And they shall bear their burdens on their backs; indeed, it is evil that which they will bear.
32. The life of this world is naught but play and vain sport, and certainly the abode of the hereafter is the best for those who guard (themselves against evil); do you not then understand?
33. Indeed, We know that what they say certainly grieves, but verily it is not you that they reject; it is the sign of God which the wrong doers deny.
34. Most certainly Our messengers before you were rejected, but they were patient on being rejected, and were persecuted until Our help came to them; none can alter the words of God, and most certainly the tidings about the messengers have come to you (from Us).
35. If their turning away is hard upon your mind, then even if you are able to seek an opening into the earth, or a ladder (to ascend) to the heavens, so that you bring them a sign, it will still be in vain. Yet if only God desired, He would certainly have gathered them all on the right guidance; so, do not be of the ignorant.
36. Verily, only those who listen (to the Word of God) will accept; as for the dead, God will raise them, then to Him will they all return.
37. They say: “Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?” Say: “Verily, God is able to reveal a sign,” but most of them do not know.
38. There is no animal that walks upon the earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, except that they are communities like you; We have not neglected anything in the Book (Qur’an), then to their Lord shall they all be gathered in the end.
39. Those who rejected Our signs are deaf and dumb, in utter darkness; God allows whomsoever He pleases to stray, and He guides to the Straight Path whomsoever He wills.
40. Say: “Do you think that if the chastisement of God comes to you, or if the Hour (of resurrection) approaches you, you will call for help anyone other than God? Then say it if you are truthful.”
41. Nay, you will call upon Him, and He shall remove that for which you earnestly pray Him if He pleases, and you would forget (the false gods) you set up (with Him).
42. We sent (messengers) to nations before you; then We caught them in distress and adversity so that they might humble themselves.
43. Yet why did they not humble themselves when Our punishment came to them? Their hearts were hardened, and the devil made that which they were doing alluring to them.
44. When they forgot the warning they had received, We opened for them the gates of all things (of enjoyment) until, when they rejoiced in what they were given, We caught them suddenly, and lo, they were in utter despair.
45. So the roots of the people who were unjust were cut off, and all Praise is due to God, Lord of the worlds.
46. Say: “Do you think that if God takes away your hearing and your sight, and seals your hearts, who is the god other than He that can bring it back to you?” See how We explain the signs, yet they turn aside.
47. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Do you think, if the chastisement of God comes to you suddenly or openly, will anyone be destroyed except the unjust?”
48. We do not send messengers except as heralds with glad tidings and as warners; then whoever believes and acts aright shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.
49. As for those who reject Our signs, Our chastisement shall afflict them for what they used to transgress.
50. Say (O Muhammad): “I do not tell you that the treasures of God are with me, nor that I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel; I only follow what is revealed to me.” Say: “Are the blind and the seeing alike? Do you not then reflect?”
51. Convey this warning to those in whose hearts rests the fear that they shall be brought before their Lord, besides Whom they have neither protector, nor intercessor, that they may fear God.
52. Do not drive away those who call upon their Lord, in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance. It is neither on you to answer for anything on their account, nor is it on them to answer for anything on yours so that you drive them away and thus be of the unjust.
53. Thus did We try some of them through others so that they say: “Are these they upon whom God has conferred His Favours from among us?” Does not God know best who the grateful ones are?
54. When those who believe in Our signs come to you, say: “Peace be on you; your Lord has inscribed (the rule of) mercy upon Himself, so if any among you commit evil in ignorance, then he turns repentant after that and amends, verily He is the oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
55. Thus did We explain the signs in detail so that the way of the sinners may become manifest.
56. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “I am forbidden to worship those whom you call upon besides God.” Say: “I do not follow your inclinations, for then indeed I would have gone astray, and I will not then be of those who are guided (aright).”
57. Say: “Verily, I have manifest proof from my Lord, yet you rejected it; I do not have with me that (chastisement) which you hasten for; the judgment belongs to none but God Who declares the truth and He is the best to decide.”
58. Say: “Had what you hasten been with me, the matter between me and you would have been decided, and God knows best the unjust.”
59. With Him are the keys (of the treasures) of the unseen-none but He knows what is in the land and the sea; not even a leaf falls but He knows it, nor a grain in the darkness of the earth, nor anything wet or dry but (it is) in a clear Book.
60. He it is Who takes your souls by night (in sleep), and He knows what you acquire in the day, then He raises you up therein that a prefixed term of life be fulfilled; then to Him is your ultimate return, then He will declare to you what you were doing.
61. He is the all-Dominant above His servants, and He sends guardians over you. When death comes to one of you, Our messengers (angels) take him away, and they never fail (in their duty).
62. Then they shall be returned to God, their Master, the only Real One. Beware! His alone is the judgment, and He is the swiftest to reckon.
63. Say: “Who delivers you from the dread of the darkness of the land and the sea, when you pray Him openly, humbling yourselves, and secretly, saying: “If He delivers us from this, certainly we shall be of the grateful ones”?
64. Say: “God delivers you from them, and from every distress, yet again you associate others with Him.”
65. Say: “He has power that He may send on you a chastisement from above you or from under your feet, or He would involve you in confusion, in party dissensions, and make some of you taste the vengeance of others;” behold how We repeatedly explain the signs so they may understand.
66. And your people rejected it, though it is the very truth. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “I am not a guard over you.”
67. For every message there is a prefixed term, and soon shall you know it.
68. When you see those engaged in vain talk about Our signs, get away from them until they enter into (some) other discourse, and if the devil causes you to forget this, then do not keep company after recollecting the unjust people.
69. No responsibility of the reckoning of their deeds shall fall upon the righteous, but they only remind them, perchance they may guard themselves against evil.
70. Leave those who have taken their religion for a play and a vain sport, and those whom the temporal life of this world has beguiled, and admonish them by it (Qur’an) lest a soul should be fettered with what it has earned. There shall be no protector nor intercessor besides God, and if it seeks to give every compensation, it shall not be accepted from it. These are they who are fettered with what they earned. For them shall be a drink of boiling water and a painful chastisement for their disbelief.
71. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Shall we call on any besides God that neither profits us nor harms us, and shall we turn back on our heels after God has guided us, like that who is infatuated by the devils, perplexed in the earth, even though he has companions who call him to guidance saying: `Come to us’?” Say: “Verily the guidance of God is the true guidance, and we are commanded that we should submit ourselves to the Lord of the world.
72. “And that you establish prayers and fear Him; He it is to Whom you shall be gathered.
73. “He it is Who created the heavens and the earth true proportions, The day He says: `Be’, behold, and it is! His word is the truth; His is the authority on the Day when the trumpet is blown; Knower of the unperceivable and the perceivable worlds; the all-Wise, the all-Aware.”
74. Abraham said to his father Azar: “Do you take idols for gods? Verily I see you and your people in obvious error!”
75. Thus did We show Abraham (the laws of) the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and that he may be of those who have certitude.
76. Thereafter, overshadowed by the night, he saw a star and said: “This is my Lord.” When it set, he said: “I do not love the setting ones.”
77. Then when he saw the moon rising in splendour, he said: “This is my Lord, this is the greatest;” then when it, too, set, he said: “O my people! I am clear of what you associate with God.”
78. When he saw the sun rising in splendour, he said: “This is my Lord; this is the greatest,” but when it too set, he said: “O my people! I am indeed free from the partners you ascribe to God.
79. “Verily I have turned my face wholly to Him Who originated the heavens and the earth, being upright, and I am not of the polytheists.”
80. When his people disputed with him, he said: “Do you dispute with me about God while indeed He has guided me? I fear none of what you associate with Him save any that My Lord wills; my Lord comprehends everything in His knowledge, will you not then be mindful?
81. “How should I fear that which you have associated with Him while you do not fear since you have associated with God that for which no authority has been sent down on you? Then which of the two parties has greater right to security, if only you know?
82. “Security is for those who believe and do not mix their faith with iniquity, and they are the ones who are rightly guided.”
83. This is Our argument which We gave to Abraham rebutting his people; We exalt whoever We please; verily your Lord is Wise, all-Knowing.
84. We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob; each We guided, and Noah did We guide before, and among his progeny are David and Solomon, Job and Joseph, Moses and Aaron; thus do We reward those who do good deeds.
85. And Zakariya and John and Jesus and Elias: all in the ranks of the righteous.
86. And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonas and Lot: each We exalted over the worlds,
87. (To them and to) their fathers, descendants and brethren, and We chose them (for Our Message), and We guided them to the Straight Way.
88. This is God’s guidance; He guides with it whomsoever of His servants He pleases, and if they were to associate others with Him, what they were doing would avail them naught.
89. These are they upon whom We bestowed the Book, authority and prophethood; so, if these people disbelieve in it, indeed We have already entrusted it to a people who shall not disbelieve therein.
90. These are they whom God has guided; therefore, follow their guidance. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “I do not ask for any recompense from you for it (prophethood); it is but a reminder to the world.”
91. They do not esteem God with the estimation due to Him when they say: “God sends down nothing to man!” Say: “Who then revealed the Book which Moses brought as a light and a guidance for mankind? You transcribe it into (separate) sheets whereof you publish a part and conceal much? And you were taught what you did not know, neither you nor your fathers.” Say: “(It is none but) God!” Then leave them sporting in their vain discourses.
92. We have sent this blessed Book (Qur’an) confirming that which preceded it, so that you may warn (the people of) the mother-city (Mecca) and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are (constantly) guarding their prayers.
93. Who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against God or says: “I have received a revelation,” while nothing has been revealed to him, or he who says: “I can reveal like what God has revealed”? And if you could see when the unjust are in the agonies of death, and the angels stretch forth their hands saying: “Surrender your souls; today you shall be recompensed with a disgraceful chastisement for what you unjustly spoke against God, scornfully rejecting His signs.”
94. Indeed you will come to us (bare and) alone as we created you at first, leaving behind your backs that which We bestowed on you, and We do not see your intercessors with you, those whom you asserted were in your affairs the associates (of God), and indeed the ties between you are now severed, and what you falsely asserted has departed from you.
95. Verily God is the splitter of grain (seed) and date stone (to sprout); He brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living; that is God! How then are you turned away deluded?
96. He cleaves the dawn-break, and He has made the night for rest and the sun and moon for reckoning (time); this is the measuring of the Almighty, the all-Knowing Lord.
97. He it is who made the stars for you that you may be rightly guided in the land and the sea; indeed, We have made the signs plain for people who understand.
98. He it is who has produced you from a single soul, then there is (for you) a receptacle and a depository; We have made the signs plain for people who understand.
99. He it is who sends down water from heaven, then we bring forth with it buds of all plants; from it green (foliage) from which We produce grain piled up in ears; and of the palm trees, of the sheaths of it come forth clusters (of dates) within reach, and gardens of grapes and olives and pomegranates, alike and not alike; see the fruit of it when it yields the fruit and the ripening of it; verily, in this are signs for people who believe.
100. Yet they make the jinns, His creation, equals with God, and they falsely and without knowledge attribute to Him sons and daughters! Praise and glory be to Him above what they attribute!
101. (He is the) Originator of the heavens and the earth; how could He have a son while He has no consort? He created all things, and He knows all things.
102. (Behold!) that is God, your Lord; there is no god but He, Creator of all things; therefore, worship Him; He is indeed the Guardian over all things.
103. Vision cannot perceive Him, while He perceives all vision; He is the Subtle, the all-Aware.
104. Indeed clear proofs have come to you from your Lord; whosoever therefore sees it, it is for his own self, and whosoever (willfully chooses to be) blind, then it is against his own self; I am not a keeper over you.
105. Thus do We explain the signs, so that they may say: “You have been taught” and that We may make it clear to people who know.
106. Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord; there is no god but He, and turn away from the polytheists.
107. Had God so pleased, they would not have associated (others with Him), and We have not made you a keeper over them, nor are you their guardian.
108. Do not abuse those whom they invoke besides God lest they should abuse God in transgression without knowledge; thus have We made to every people their deeds fair-seeming to them, then to their Lord is their return, so He will inform them of what they did.
109. They swear by God with the strongest of their oaths that if a sign came to them, they would most certainly believe in it; say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Verily signs are with God, but what should make you know that when it comes they will not believe?”
110. We will turn their hearts and visions aside even as they did not believe in it the first time, and We will leave them in their contumacy blindly wandering on.
111. Even if We send the angels down to them, and the dead speak to them, and (even if) We had gathered all things before them, they would not believe unless God so pleases, but most of them deliberately choose to ignore.
112. Thus did We appoint an enemy for every messenger. The devils, from mankind and the jinn, inspire each other (with) tinsel discourses to deceive (them); had your Lord pleased, they would not have done it; therefore, leave them and what they forge alone,
113. Thus the hearts of those who do not believe in the life hereafter may incline towards it, so that they may be well-pleased therewith, and that they may earn what they may.
114. Should I seek other than God for a judge, while He has revealed to you the Book (Qur’an) fully explained? And those to whom We have given the Book know that it has been sent down from your Lord with truth; so, do not be of those who doubt.
115. Perfect is the Word of your Lord in truth and justice; there is none that can change His words; He is the all-Hearing, the all-Knowing.
116. If you obey most of those on earth, they will lead you astray from God’s Way; they only follow conjecture; they only falsely guess.
117. Verily, your Lord knows best who strays from His Way, and He knows best those who follow the right guidance.
118. Eat, therefore, (the meat) over which the Name of God has been mentioned, if you believe in His signs.
119. What has happened to you that you do not eat of that (meat) over which the Name of God has been mentioned, while He has indeed made plain to you what He has forbidden to you, except what you were compelled to? Many would lead people astray by their vain desires without knowledge; verily, your Lord knows best the transgressors.
120. And give up open and secret sins; verily those who earn sin will be recompensed with what they earned.
121. Do not eat of that over which God’s Name was not mentioned; verily it is transgression, and verily the evil ones inspire their friends that they should contend with you, and if you obey them, verily you will (all) be polytheists.
122. Is he who was dead, then We raised him to life and made for him a light whereby he walks among people, like unto him that whose similitude is one who is in utter darkness, whence he cannot come forth? Thus has been made fair-seeming for the disbelievers what they did.
123. Thus did We make in every town leaders to be its guilty ones, that they may plot therein, and they do not plot but against their own selves, but they do not perceive it.
124. When a sign comes to them, they say: “We will never believe until we are given the like of what was given to the messengers of God.” God knows best where to place His Message. Soon shall humiliation from God befall those who are guilty, and a severe chastisement for what they cunningly plot.
125. Whomsoever God chooses to guide aright, He expands his breast for Islam, and whomsoever He intends to leave straying, He makes his breast strait and narrow as though he is climbing into the very skies. Thus does God lay ignominious chastisement on those who disbelieve.
126. This is the path of your Lord, a straight one; indeed, We have made the signs clear for people who take heed.
127. For them shall be the abode of peace with their Lord, and He is their Guardian because of what they used to do.
128. On the Day when He gathers them all together (and says): “O assembly of jinn! You increased your strength (by seducing a great number of) men;” and their friends from among men will say: “O Lord! Some of us profited by others and we have reached our term which You appointed for us.” He shall say: “The Fire is your abode, be you the dwellers therein save what pleases God; verily your Lord is Wise, all-Knowing.”
129. Thus do We make some of the iniquitous befriend others because of what they earned.
130. “O assembly of jinn and men! Did not prophets come to you from among you, relating to you My signs, and warning you of the meeting of your day (of requital)?” They shall say: “We testify against ourselves.” This world’s life deceived them, and they shall bear witness against their own selves that they were disbelievers.
131. This is so because your Lord does not destroy any town unjustly while their occupants were negligent.
132. And for all are degrees in accordance with what they do, and your Lord is not heedless of their deeds.
133. Your Lord is self-Sufficient, Lord of Mercy; if He pleases, He may take you away and make whomsoever He pleases successors after you, just as He raised you from the posterity of other people.
134. Verily, what you are promised will certainly come to pass, and you cannot make (God) helpless against it.
135. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “O my people! Act according to your ability; verily I too act, then you will soon know for whom of us will be the (best) end in the hereafter; verily, the unjust shall not succeed.”
136. They assign to God from what He has created of tilth and cattle, and say: “This is for God,” according to their assertion, “and this is for our associates.” Then what is for their associates does not reach God, and what is for God reaches their associates! How evil is their judgment!
137. Thus, their associates have made fair-seeming to most of the polytheists the slaying of their own children that they might cause them to perish, and have confounded to them their religion. Had God desired, they would not have done so; therefore, leave them and what they forge alone.
138. They say: “These cattle and tilth are a taboo (consecrated); none shall eat them save as we please.” This is according to their own assertion, and (there are) cattle whose yoke or burden is forbidden, and cattle over which they do not mention the Name of God (when slaughtered), forging a lie against Him; soon He will requite them for what they forge.
139. They say: “What is in the wombs of these cattle is exclusively for our males and is forbidden to our wives, and if it is still-born, then all of them are partners therein. Soon will He recompense them for falsely attributing it to God; verily, He is Wise, all-Knowing.
140. Indeed, those who slay their children foolishly without knowledge and prohibit what God has given them, forging falsehood against God; indeed, they have gone astray and they are not guided aright.
141. He it is Who produces gardens (of vine) trellised and untrellised, and date palms and tilth of various kinds of food produce and olives and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in variety); eat of its fruit when it yields fruit and give His share, on the day of reaping, and do not act extravagantly; verily, He does not love the extravagant ones.
142. And of cattle are some bearers of burden and some (low fit only) for spreading; eat of what God provides you with, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan; verily he is your declared enemy.
143. Take eight in pairs, two of sheep, and two of goats. Say: “Has He forbidden the two males or the two females or what is contained in the wombs of the two females? Inform me with knowledge, if you are truthful.”
144. And two camels and two oxen, and say: “Has He forbidden the two males or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when God enjoined this?” Who then is more unjust than he who forges a lie against God to lead people astray without knowledge? Verily, God does not guide those who are unjust.
145. Say: “I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to an eater to eat except what dies by itself, or blood poured forth, or flesh of swine, for verily that is unclean, a transgression, to invoke the name of any other than God’s; but even so, if one is forced (to eat it), not lusting, nor willfully transgressing the limits, then verily your Lord is oft-Forgiving, Merciful.”
146. To those who were Jews We forbade every animal having undivided hoofs, and oxen and sheep We forbade to them the fat of both, save what is upon their backs or entrails or what is mixed with bones; this We recompensed them for their rebellion, and verily We are Truthful.
147. If they reject you (O Our Prophet Muhammad), then say: “Though your Lord is full of mercy, all-Embracing, yet His Wrath shall not be returned from the guilty people.”
148. Those who are polytheists will say: “Had God wished, we would not have associated (aught with Him), nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything.” Thus, those before them rejected until they tasted Our Wrath. Say: “Do you have any (certain) knowledge? Then produce it to us; you follow naught but conjecture, and you utter naught but guessing.”
149. Say: “Then God’s alone is the decisive argument. Had God wished, He would surely have guided you all aright.”
150. Say: “Bring your witnesses who testify that God has forbidden this.” Then (even) if they bear witness, do not bear witness with them, and do not follow the inclinations of those who reject Our signs nor those who do not believe in the Hereafter, making others equal with their Lord.
151. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Come! I will recite to you what your Lord has forbidden to you, so that you do not associate with Him anything, and that you be good to your parents and do not slay your children for fear of poverty;” We provide for you and for them, and do not draw close to shameful deeds, those that are apparent and those that are concealed, and do not kill the soul which God has forbidden save to effect justice; this He enjoined you with, so that you may understand.
152. Do not approach the property of an orphan save that it be in the best manner till he attains his maturity; give full measure and full weight in justice; We do not task a soul except according to its ability. And when you speak, be just, though it be against a kinsman, and fulfill God’s Covenant; this He enjoins you with, so that you may be mindful.
153. And (know) verily that My Path is straight; so, follow it, and do not follow other ways for they will scatter you away from His Path; thus does He enjoin you so that you may guard (yourselves against evil).
154. Besides, We gave Moses the Book completing (Our Favours) on those who do good deeds and explaining all things in detail, and guidance and mercy, so that you may receive mercy.
155. This (Qur’an) is a Book: We have sent it down, blessed, so follow it, and guard (yourselves against evil) so that you may receive mercy.
156. Lest the (polytheists) should say: “The book (from God) was revealed to two parties (Christians and Jews) before us, and verily we were unaware of what they read.”
157. Or lest you should say: “If only a book had been sent to us, we should have been better guided than them.” So indeed has now come to you a manifest Proof from your Lord, guidance and mercy; who then is more unjust than he who rejects the signs of God and turns away from them? Soon shall We recompense those who turn away from Our signs with an evil chastisement for their turning away.
158. They wait only (to see) that the angels come to them or your Lord (Himself) comes, or that some signs of your Lord come to them; on the Day when some of the signs of your Lord come, the faith of a soul which did not believe, nor earn good through its faith, shall not avail it. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Wait! Verily, we, too, are waiting.”

161. Say (O Our Prophet Muhammad): “Verily my Lord has guided me to the Straight Path, the established religion, the faith of Abraham, the upright one, and he was not a polytheist.”
162. Say: “Verily, my prayer and sacrifice, my life and death, (are all only) for God, Lord of the worlds.
163. “No associate (is there) for Him, and thus I am commanded; I am the first of the Muslims (those who sub-mit to God).”
164. Say: “Shall I seek other than God for a Lord while He is the Lord of all things, and no soul earns (any evil deed) but against itself, and no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another; then to your Lord is your return, so He will inform you of what you used to differ (therein).”
165. He it is Who has made you as (His) Vicegerent on earth and raised some of you above others in ranks, that He may try you in what He bestowed upon you; verily, your Lord is quick in the requital of evil, yet verily He is the oft-Forgiving, the Merciful.
