In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
1. All praise is due to God to Whom (the domain) of the heavens and in the earth belongs, and His is all praise in the hereafter; He is the all-Wise, the all-Aware.
2. He knows whatever passes into the earth and whatever comes out of it, and whatever comes down from the heavens and whatever goes upto it; He is the Most Merciful, the oft-Forgiving.
3. Those who disbelieve say: “The Hour shall not come upon us.” Say: “Yea; by my Lord, the Knower of the unseen, it shall certainly come upon you, from Him nothing is hidden (not even) the weight of an atom in the heavens nor in the earth, nor is there aught less than this, nor aught greater, but is in the manifesting Book,
4. “That He may recompense those who believe and do good deeds; these it is for whom there is forgiveness and an honourable sustenance.
5. For those who strive hard to invalidate Our Signs there is a chastisement of a painful torment.
6. Will those to whom knowledge has been given see that which has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and it guides to the Path of the Almighty, the Most Praised?
7. Those who disbelieve say (in ridicule): “Shall we point out to you a man who informs you that when you are wholly scattered, totally disintegrated, (even then) you are certainly returned into a new creation?
8. “Has he forged a lie against God, or is he possessed?” Nay! Those who do not believe in the hereafter are in a torment and are straying far from the truth.
9. Do not they see then what is before them and what is behind them of the heavens and the earth? If We please, We will make them sink into the earth, or We bring down upon them a piece from the heavens; verily in this there is a sign for every servant turning (to his Lord).
10. And indeed We gave a boon to David from Us saying: “O mountains! Sing the praise of God along with him, and the birds, too,” and We softened the iron for him.
11. “Make coats of mail, and measure its links and do good deeds; verily I see all what you do.”
12. And for Solomon (We subjected) the wind which traveled in the morning a month’s journey and a month’s journey in the eve, and We caused for him a fountain of molten brass to flow, and among the jinn were those who worked for him by the Command of his Lord, and whoever among them turned away from Our command, We shall make him taste of the chastisement of the flaming fire.
13. They made for him whatever he wills of fortresses and statues, basins as reservoirs and huge cooking cauldrons immovable from their place; “Act gratefully, O family of David! And very few of My servants are grateful!”
14. And when We decreed his death, nothing showed them his death except the worm of the earth that gnawed away his staff; when it fell down, the jinn plainly saw that had they come to know the unseen, they would not have tarried in their humiliating torment.
15. Indeed, for (the children of) Saba in their abode was a sign: two gardens on the right and the left; “Eat of the sustenance of your Lord and offer thanks to Him,” and a good land, and an oft-Forgiving Lord!
16. But they turned away, so We sent upon them a torrent irresistible, and in place of their two gardens We gave them two gardens yielding bitter fruits and tamarisks and a few lotetrees.
17. This We recompensed them for what they disbelieved; but do We (thus) recompense any save the ungrateful?
18. And We caused between them and the towns which We had blessed (other) towns to be seen, and We have made easy the journey therein; travel through them nights and days, secure.
19. Then they said: “Lord! Make the spaces to be longer between our journey” and they were unjust to their own selves. We made them tales and scattered them with a total scattering; verily in this are signs for every one patient, grateful.
20. And indeed Iblis found his conjecture concerning them true, so they followed him except a party of the believers.
21. And there is no authority for him save that We would distinguish him that believes in the hereafter from him that is in doubt concerning it, and your Lord is a Guardian over all things.
22. Say: “Call upon those whom you deemed (as gods) besides God; they do not own the weight of an atom in the heavens nor the earth, nor is there for them any partnership in either, nor for Him is there from among them anyone to help.”
23. No intercession with Him will avail them save of him whom He has permitted, until terror is removed from their hearts, they shall say: “What is it that your Lord said?” They (angels) shall say: “The truth, and He is the Most High, the Greatest!”
24. Say: “Who provides you with sustenance from the heavens and the earth?” Say: “(It is none but) God, and verily (either) we or you are guided aright, or in manifest error?”
25. Say: “You will not be questioned about what we are guilty of, nor shall we be questioned about what you do.”
26. Say: “Our Lord will gather us together, then He will judge between us with justice; He is the Greatest Judge, the all-Knowing.”
27. Say: “Show me those whom you associate with Him: By no means! Nay! He is God the Almighty, the all-Wise.”
28. And We sent you (Muhammad) but to the whole world as a bearer of glad tidings and a Warner, yet most people do not know.
29. And they say: “When will this promise be, if you are truthful?”
30. Say: “For you there is an appointed day which you cannot hold back even a while, nor can you hasten it on.”
31. And those who disbelieve say: “We shall never believe in this Qur’an, nor in that which is before it,” but could you see when the unjust are made to stand before their Lord, returning reproaches from one to another? Those who were despised as weak will say to those who had prided: “Had it not been for you, we would certainly have been believers.”
32. Those who had prided shall say to those who were despised as weak: “Did we turn you away from the guidance after it had come to you? Nay! You were yourselves the guilty ones.”
33. Those who had been despised as weak shall say to those who had prided: “Nay! (It was your) planning by night and day, when you bade us disbelieve in God and set up equals with Him.” And they shall feel regretful when they see the torment; We will put shackles on the necks of those who disbelieved; they are recompensed with aught save that which they did.
34. We sent no warner to a town except that the opulent ones of it said: “Verily we are disbelievers in what you are sent with.”
35. And they said: “We are more (than you) in wealth and descendants, and we shall not be chastised.”
36. Say: “Verily my Lord amplifies the sustenance for whomsoever He wills and straitens it for whomsoever He pleases, but most people do not know.”
37. Neither your wealth, nor your children, can bring you nigh to Us, but whosoever believes and does good deeds, they are the ones for whom there is a double recompense for what they did, and they are in exalted places, secure.
38. And those who strive hard to invalidate Our Signs, they shall be brought to chastisement.
39. Say: “Verily my Lord increases or restricts the sustenance for whomsoever He wills of His servants, and whatever you spend, He returns it (with rewards); He is the best of sustainers.”
40. On the Day when He gathers them all together, He will then say unto the angels: “Did these worship you?”
41. They shall say: “Glory be to You! You are our Guardian, not they. Nay! They worshipped the jinn; most of them were believers in them.”
42. So on that Day, none of you will own any profit or harm, and We will say unto those who did injustice: “Taste the torment of the Fire in which you disbelieved.”
43. And when Our clear Signs are recited to them, they say: “This is but a man; he desires to turn you away from what your fathers used to worship,” and they say: “This (Qur’an) is naught but a falsehood forged.” Those who disbelieve say of them: “This is nothing but a clear sorcery.”
44. We have not given them any book to read nor did We send them before you any warner.
45. Those before them rejected, and these have not attained (even) the tithe of what We gave them, yet they rejected My messengers, so how (intense) was My abhorrence (of them)?
46. Say: “I exhort you only to one thing: that you rise up for God’s sake in pairs and singly, then ponder: your companion (Muhammad) is not possessed; he is but a warner to you, before a severe chastisement.”
47. Say: Whatever recompense I have asked of you is only for your own souls; my recompense is from God (alone), and He is witness over all things.”
48. Say: “Verily my Lord does hurl out the Truth, the Greatest Knower of the unseen.”
49. Say: “Truth has come and falsehood does not bring forth anything, nor does it reproduce.”
50. Say: “If I stray, I stray only against my own self, and if I am guided rightly, it is (the guidance) of what my Lord has been revealed to me; verily He is all-Hearing, Most Nigh.”
51. If only you could see when they get terrified, no escape there shall be, and they shall be seized from a near place!
52. They shall say: “We (now) believe in it.” And when shall the approach (to faith) be for them from such a distant place?
53. Indeed they disbelieved in it before, and aimed their conjecture about the unseen from a distant place.
54. A gap shall be set between them and that which they desire, as was done to their likes of yore; verily they have been in a disquieting doubt.
