In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
1. Ha, Meem.
2. This Book (Qur’an) is revealed from God, the all-Mighty, the all-Wise.
3. Verily in the heavens and the earth are signs for the believers.
4. And in your own creation, and in what He scatters in the earth of animals are signs for people sure in faith,
5. And in the alternation of the night and the day, and what God sends down from heaven of sustenance, (in His) giving life thereby to the earth after its death, and in the changing of the winds., are signs for people who understand.
6. These are the signs of God We recite them unto you with truth; then in what (other) argument after (rejecting) God and His signs would they believe?
7. Woe unto every sinning liar,
8. Who hears the signs of God recited to him, yet he persists arrogantly, as if he never heard them; so announce to them a painful torment.
9. When he comes to know of any of Our signs, he takes it jestingly. These shall have a disgracing chastisement.
10. Behind them is Hell, and naught of what they earned shall avail them, nor those whom they took as guardians besides God, and for them shall be a grievous chastisement.
11. This (Qur’an) is guidance, and for those who disbelieve in the signs of their Lord shall be a most painful torment.
12. God is He Who made the sea subservient to you that you may traverse the ships therein by His command, and that you may seek of His grace, and that you may be thankful.
13. And He made subservient to you whatever is in the heavens and the earth, all on His behalf. Verily in this are signs for people who reflect.
14. Say to those who believe that they may forgive those who do not hope for the Days of God, that He may reward people for what they earned.
15. Whoever does good deeds, it is for his own self, and whoever does evil deeds, it is against his own self; then to your Lord you shall all be returned.
16. Indeed, We bestowed upon the children of Israel a Book, and wisdom and prophethood, and We provided them with sustenance from the goodly things, and We favoured them over all other peoples.
17. And We gave them clear arguments of the affairs, but they differed only after knowledge had come to them through rivalry among themselves. Your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Reckoning about that wherein they differed.
18. Then We have set you (O Muhammad) on a definite course of Law, so follow it, and do not follow the vain desires of those who do not know.
19. They shall not avail you aught against God. The unjust are friends of one another, and God is the Guardian of the pious.
20. These are proofs for the people, a guidance and a mercy to people who are sure in faith.
21. Do those who have wrought evil deeds deem that We will treat them as We treat those who believed and did good deeds, in life and in death? Ill is their judgment.
22. God created the heavens and the earth in truth, and every soul shall be rewarded for what it earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.
23. Have you seen him who takes as god his own vain desires, while God has allowed him to stray, knowing it, and set a seal upon his ear and heart and put upon his eyes a veil? Who can guide him besides God? Will you not then reflect?
24. They say: “It is naught save our life in this world; we die and we live, and nothing annihilates us save time.” There is no knowledge for them of that; they only surmise.
25. And when Our clear signs are recited unto them, their argument is only that they say: “Bring our fathers back if you are truthful.”
26. Say: “God grants you life, then He causes you to die, then He will gather you to the Day of Reckoning; there is no doubt about this, yet most people do not know.”
27. God’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth; on the Day when the Hour is established, on that Day the believers in falsehood shall be the losers.
28. And you (O Our Messenger Muhammad!) shall see every nation kneeling down, every people called upon to their own book; today you shall be recompensed for all that you used to do.
29. This is Our Book (Qur’an) that speaks against you with justice; verily We used to record whatever you used to do.
30. And those who believed and did good deeds, their Lord admits them into His mercy; that is the manifest achievement.
31. And those who disbelieved (it shall be said to them): “Were not My signs recited to you? Yet you acted arrogantly, and you were a guilty people.”
32. It was said to them: “Verily the promise of God is true, and there is no doubt in the Hour;” you said: “We know not what the Hour is. We deem it naught but a mere guess, and we are not sure.”
33. The evils of what they wrought shall (appear) manifest to them and that which they used to mock shall surround them.
34. And it shall be said to them: “Today, We neglect you even as you neglected the meeting of this Day of yours, and your abode shall be the Fire, and for you there will be no helpers.”
35. “You took the signs of God for a jest and the life of this world deceived you;” so on that day, they shall not be taken out thence, nor shall they be granted any grace.
36. Therefore, God’s (alone) is the praise, Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the worlds.
37. His (only) is greatness in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Almighty, the all-Wise.
