In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
1. The reality:
2. What is the reality?
3. And what makes you comprehend the reality?
4. Thamud and Ad belied the striking calamity,
5. So as to Thamud, they were destroyed by an exceedingly terrible thunder;
6. And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring violent blast.
7. He made it rage against them for seven nights and eight days uprooting, that you might see the people therein prostrate as if they were trunks of hollow palms.
8. Then do you see if any of them survived?
9. Pharaoh and those before him, and the ones who were overthrown, committed evil sins;
10. They disobeyed the messenger of their Lord; so, He seized them with an increasing seizure.
11. Verily We, when the water (of Noah’s flood) rose beyond the limits, transported you in the ark made to float,
12. That We might make it a reminder for you, and that retaining ears might retain it.
13. And when the trumpet is blown a single blast,
14. The earth and mountains shall be borne away and crushed with a single crush.
15. On that day, the great event shall come to pass,
16. And the heavens shall cleave asunder; on that day, it shall be (mere) frail.
17. And the angels shall be on its sides, and above them shall bear the Throne of your Lord that day eight strong.
18. On that day, you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours shall remain hidden.
19. Then he who is given the book (of deeds) in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my book!
20. “Verily I felt that I would meet my account,”
21. So shall he be in a life (of bliss), pleased,
22. In the exalted garden,
23. Its fruits being low and near at hand.
24. - “Eat and drink in health and pleasure for what goodness you sent before in the days that passed!”
25. But he who is given the book in his left hand will say: “O would that the book had never been given to me;
26. “And that I had not known what my account was;
27. “O would that it had put an end to me.
28. “My wealth availed me naught;
29. “And all my power has gone from me.”
30. Seize him, and fetter him!
31. Then into the glazing Fire burn him!
32. Then into a chain, seventy cubits long, tie him!
33. Verily he used to disbelieve in God, the Great;
34. And he did not urge the feeding of the poor;
35. So there is no friend for him today;
36. No food for him save the puss from the washing of wounds;
37. Eaten by none other than the sinners.
38. So I swear by what you see,
39. And what you do not see,
40. Verily it is the word of the most honoured Messenger,
41. And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.
42. Nor is it the word of a soothsayer; little do you reflect.
43. It is a dispatch from the Lord of the worlds.
44. And if (Our Messenger Muhammad) had fabricated against Us any of the sayings,
45. We would certainly have seized him by the right hand,
46. Then We would certainly have cut off his aorta,
47. And of you none could have withheld (Us) against him,
48. And verily it (Qur’an) is a reminder to the pious,
49. And verily We know that some of you are falsifiers,
50. And verily it is a great grief to the disbelievers,
51. And it is the very truth, fully assured;
52. So, hallow the name of your Lord, the Most High.
