Noah (Nuh) -71

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
1. Verily We sent Noah to his people saying: “Warn your people before a painful chastisement approaches them.”
2. He said: “O my people! Verily I am an open warner to you,
3. “That you worship God (alone), fear Him, and obey me;
4. “He will forgive you your sins and respite you to an appointed term; verily when the term of God comes, it cannot be put off, if you but only know.”
5. He said: “Lord! I surely called upon my people by night and day,
6. “But my call increased them in naught but fleeing (from the Right Way).
7. “Whenever I called them that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their garments and persisted (in their error), and became puffed up with pride.
8. “Then verily I called upon them aloud,
9. “Then I spoke openly to them, and I confided in them in secrecy;
10. “Then I said: `Seek forgiveness of your Lord! Verily He is the Most Forgiving,
11. “`He will send down clouds to rain upon you in torrents,
12. “`And bestow upon you wealth and offspring, and make gardens for you, and make rivers, too;
13. “`What has befallen you that you do not take God as Great?
14. “`While He created you through regular stages?
15. “`Do you not see how God has created the seven heavens one above the other?
16. “`And made the moon a light and the sun a lamp?
17. “`And God made you grow of the earth vegetation,
18. “`Then He returns you therein, and again He will bring you forth a new creation;
19. “`And verily God has made for you the earth spacious,
20. “`That you may walk therein along wide paths?’”
21. Noah said: “Lord! They have disobeyed me and followed him whose riches and offspring only increase his loss,
22. “And they have plotted a great plot,
23. “And they said (to each other): `Do not forsake your gods; do not forsake Wudd, Suwa’, Yaghuth or Nasr.’
24. “And indeed they have led many astray, then they would increase the unjust naught but error.”
25. Because of their own sins they were drowned and were made to enter the Fire, and even then, they found no helper for them besides God.
26. Noah said: “Lord! Leave none of the unjust ones, not a single dweller, alive on earth;
27. “Verily if You leave them, they would lead Your servants astray, and they will not beget but immoral ingrates;
28. “Lord! Forgive me and my parents and the believer who enters my abode, and believing men and women, and increase the unjust in naught save perdition.”
