  • Ali Akbar (A.S), the perfect resemblance of the Prophet (P.B.U.H&H.P)

“A Christian man once entered the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H&H.P), so the people said “Hey you! You are not allowed to enter the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah, for you are a Christian man, so leave” Thus, he said:” Yesterday, I saw the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H&H.P) with the Jesus, son of Mary (S.A), in my dream. So, Jesus said to me: “Embrace Islam by the hands of the Last Prophet, Mohammad son of Abdullah, for he truly is the Prophet of this nation.” I embraced Islam yesterday by his hands and I have come now to renew my Islam by the hands of a man of his household.” Therefore, they took him to Imam Hussain (A.S). He threw himself on the feet of the Imam and started to kiss them and when he calmed down; he narrated his dream to Imam Hussain (A.S) and renewed uttering the two testimonies to him. Thus, the Imam said to him “Do you like me to get you the one who resembles the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H&H.P)?” The Christian said “Yes, O Master.” Thus, Hussain (A.S) called for his son Ali Al-Akbar; he was a young child at that time and a veil was placed on his face. They took him to his father and when Al-Hussain lifted the veil off his face, his face’s beauty appeared and his brightness shined. The Christian became astonished and passed out due to the intensity of the brightness of Ali al-Akbar ibn Al-Hussain’s face and the greatness of his beauty and allure. Hence, Al-Hussain said to some of his close companions “Pour water on his face” So, they did and he returned to the way he was. Then, Hussain (A.S) said “He is the one who resembles my grandfather, the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H&H.P).” The Christian said:” Yes Indeed! It is as if I saw him with the Jesus (A.S) yesterday.” Hussain (A.S) said “What would you do if you had a son like him and he got hurt, had a fever or was injured by a thorn or had a small cut?” The Christian said:” I will mourn greatly over him, O Master, or I may die!” Thus, Al-Hussain (A.S) said “I foretell you that I will see with my eyes this son of mine cut into pieces by swords”

  • Every human is mortal. Then, how can Imam al-Mahdi (A.S) live so long?

Yes, everyone but Allah is mortal, and in fact, Imam al-Mahdi will pass away too. But the difference is the length of life in this world. The holy Qur’an and the prophetic traditions inform us that some people have had/have long life in this world. Thus the possibility of the occurrence of such phenomena is confirmed by the religion of Islam.
Are you aware that according to the Qur’an (see 29:14); Prophet Noah has just been prophet for 950 years? His age should have been even more than that because we should add his age before prophet hood to the above number.
Do you agree that Prophet Jesus (A.S) is still alive? He is, in fact, 1995 years old by now. Of course, he is not living on the earth. He is rather in the heavens, and according to the Muslim’s belief, he will come back to the earth, and will pray behind Imam al-Mahdi (A.S).
Do you agree that al-Khidr (A.S) is still alive? Qur’an mentions the story of his meeting with Prophet Moses (A.S). He existed before the time of the Prophet Moses (A.S), and as such, al-Khidr (A.S) is now more than 3000 years old! He lives right here on the earth, but we cannot recognize him (fairly similar to the case of Imam al-Mahdi). He serves Allah (S.W.T) as one of His agents.
The Hanafi scholar, Sibt Ibn al-Jawzi, in his book "Tathkirat al-Khawas al-Ummah", pp. 325-328 gives the names of 22 people believed by Muslims to have lived various ages from 3,000 down to 300 years! No doubt! Allah has the ability to give a very long life to His servants, but He also has assigned a death time for everyone (including the above mentioned individuals) which can be very soon or very late.
Moreover, scientifically speaking, there are no objections whatsoever to the extended life span assertion. A group of scientists conducted a series of experiments at the Rockefeller Institute in New York in 1912 on certain “parts” of plants, animals, and humans. These scientists included Dr. Alex Carl, Dr. Jack Lope, and Dr. Warren Lewis and his wife, among others. Among the experiments conducted was one that directly treated the nerves, muscles, hearts, skin, and kidneys of human beings.
These organs were not connected to a human body; they were independent organs that were perhaps donated for the experiment. It was concluded by the scientists that these "parts or organs “can continue to live almost indefinitely as long as they are nourished properly, and as long as they are shielded from external negative interactions like microbes and other obstacles that might inhibit the growth of these organs; furthermore, the assertion was made that the cells would continue to grow normally under the above conditions, and that the growth is directly related to the nourishment provided.
Again, aging had no effect on these organs, and they grew every year without any signs of deterioration. The scientists concluded that these organs will continue to grow as long as the patience of the scientists themselves is not exhausted, causing them to abandon the nourishment process.

  • Muhammad the Messenger of Allah (S.W.T)

O Prophet! Indeed we have sent you as a witness, as a bearer of good news and as a warner and as a summoned to Allah by His permission, and as a radiant lamp.” (Quran 33:45, 46)
The Prophet (P.B.U.H&H.P), when a Jew asked him about the reason for him being called Muhammad, Ahmad, Abu al-Qasim, Bashir, Nadhir, and Dai - he replied, 'As for Muhammad, I am praised [mahmud] in this earth, and Ahmad is that I am praised in the Heaven . As for Abu al-Qasim, Allah will divide the Day of Resurrection into two parts; the part (qisma) of Hell, and those who disbelieve in me from among the first ones to the last ones will be in the Hellfire; and the part of Heaven, and whoever believes in me from among the first ones to the last ones, and has acknowledged my prophet hood will be in Heaven. Al-Dai [the caller] is that I call people to the religion of my Lord Almighty. Al-Nadhir [the warner] is that I warn people who disobey me about the Hellfire. Al-Bashir [bringer of good news] is that I bring the good news of Heaven to those who obey me.'
