    Feeling Lonely??
    There's a cure for that.

  • Importance of Education

The first and foremost condition for the vitality of a nation is acquisition of knowledge. In view of this Islam has encouraged the people very much to acquire knowledge and science. As a matter of fact it has made it obligatory for them. The Holy Prophet says:
“It is obligatory for every Muslim, man and woman to acquire knowledge”.
It is narrated that one day the Holy Prophet came into the Masjid and saw some people gathered there. They were divided into two groups. Whereas one of the two groups was busy offering prayers, the other was engaged in religious discussions. The Holy Prophet was very pleased to see those people and said:
“Both these groups are doing something good but I prefer the group which is busy discussing”. Saying this, he himself joined that group.
Islam attaches so much importance to the acquisition of knowledge that it has declared the path of knowledge and wisdom to be the path leading to Paradise.
The Holy Prophet took a keen interest in promoting education among the Muslims and availed of every possible opportunity to achieve this object. At times it so happened that as a result of wars with the enemies of Islam, some literate people were also captured as prisoners of war. The usual custom in those days was that prisoners of war were released only on the payment of ransom. However, the Holy Prophet always treated these literate prisoners well and agreed to set them free provided they taught at least ten Muslims how to read and write.
The Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (A.S) has emphasized the importance of education in these words: “The most valuable treasure is knowledge and wisdom and the worst misfortune is ignorance”.
    Knowledge is power.

  • Knowledge & Wisdom

The commander of the faithful (A.S) was once asked about Good. He said, Good is not that you have more wealth and children. Good is that your knowledge increases.
Kumayl bin Ziyad says, the commander of the faithful (A.S) held my hand and took me out of the town. When we reached wilderness he took a deep breath and said, O Kumayl! These hearts are the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. The best of heart are those that provide room for more knowledge and wisdom. Remember forever what I tell you.
There are three kinds of people: First, One who knows the Lord; Second, A student of the path of salvation and truth; and third, a group like flies who follow every voice; and who are dragged in any direction the wind blows.
O Kumayl! Knowledge is better than money and property. Knowledge is your security and you have to guard wealth. Money and possessions decrease by using but knowledge increases with its dispersion.
O Kumayl! Knowledge is the only faith of man and man must always follow it. Every man must, during his lifetime, adopt a way of obedience and must leave after his death a good remembrance. Knowledge is the ruler while money is the ruled.
O Kumayl, the possessors of wealth and treasures have vanished but the wise and the learned are living. The learned are alive till the world exists. Their bodies have disappeared but their high examples exist in the hearts of people.
Then pointing to his chest said: Here is the abundance of knowledge and wisdom. I wish I could find bearers for it.

  • Rain of knowledge on hearts

My son! God revives the hearts of men with the light of knowledge as he revives dead lands with blessings of rains from the sky!
    [Bihar al-Anwar, Vol. 1]

    Brief description
The land of man’s heart is like a garden in which all types of seedlings, seeds of flowers, plants and strong trees are dispersed. If it is irrigated on time, a pleasant and fruitful area will blossom.
The only means of irrigation for this land is the reviving drops of rain of science and knowledge. Hearts lacking knowledge have no light, no fruit….they are dark, and they are dead. We should always, and in all conditions, keep alive our souls with the light of knowledge.

  • What Imam Ali (A.S) said to Kumail

    knowledge

Narrated in Shaykh Al-Mufid’s Al-Amali, Imam Ali (A.S) highlights the importance of knowledge and learning to his companion, Kumail ibn Ziyad Al-Nakha’ee. In his advice, the Imam (A.S) reproaches those who misuse knowledge or are misled from its pursuit by worldly pleasures.

Once I was with commander of the faithful (A.S) in the mosque of Kufa, and when we completed our late evening prayers (i.e. Isha), he took me by his hands and came out of the mosque. He did not say a word till we arrived at the rear part of Kufa. As he entered the desert, he heaved a sigh and said:

“O Kumail, no doubt these hearts (i.e. minds) are containers, and the best of them are those who retain most. Remember from me what I say; people are of three categories: the learned men (of piety), the students on the path of salvation, and (the third one) the riffraff of the society, following every croak of the crows, bending as the wind blows; never benefiting from the light of knowledge, nor finding a refuge with a strong supporter.

O Kumail, knowledge is better than wealth; for knowledge guards you, while you have to guard wealth; and wealth is diminished when spent, while knowledge grows and increases when put in use.

O Kumail, to have liking and affinity for a learned man is the best way to entrench ones faith in Allah, it enables one to be obedient to Him during lifetime, and to be praiseworthy after one has died.

O Kumail, dividend from wealth disappears with its loss, O Kumail, the hoarders of wealth have died, while the learned men exist for ever; their bodies have disappeared but their teachings and wisdom are ingrained in the hearts.”

And then pointing to his chest, he said: “Here is well-grounded, plentiful knowledge; I wish it had true recipients and adherents, I would have imparted it.
But, unfortunately, some unscrupulous men of understanding have tried to misuse it, using religion as a weapon to earn the worldly gain, and seeking undue power by divine authority over Allah’s creatures, abusing His bounties which He bestowed upon them. So the feeble-minded people accepted them as reliable; or took them as compliant with (divine) wisdom, discarding the true guardians of truth. (The truth is that) such people (who they have adopted as their guides) have no insight into its ramifications; with the result that with the slightest confusion, doubt enters their minds. Neither of them could be the true carrier of knowledge.

And then there are those with insatiable lust, easily misled by the pleasures of flesh, or enticed by accumulating wealth, not at all among those who care for religion. They very much resemble the grazing cattle. Thus, knowledge dies with the death of such carriers.

Yet, the earth is never devoid of either a manifest divine power, or the one in concealment, ensuring that His clear signs are not lost. Surely, with those fewer people of enormous import, Allah protects His proof, till they succeed to transmit it further to their likes, and plant it deep in their hearts. They are the ones overwhelmed by the (true) knowledge of certitude, and have made it easy for themselves to tread on the path which men in luxury found difficult. They derive pleasure and enjoyment from things which repel the ignorant. Though they live on earth with their bodies, their souls hang onto the higher plane. They are the (true) representatives of Allah on His earth, and the ones who invite (people) to His religion.

Alas! How keen I am to have sight of them! And I seek forgiveness from Allah for me and for you all.”

Then he [i.e. ‘Ali (A.S)] withdrew his hand from mine and said: “You may leave when you like.”

  • What Is the Worth of Man???

The commander of the faithful, Imam Ali (A.S) said:
"The worth of every man is in his attainments."
    [Nahjul Balaghah, Saying No.482]
The real value of a person is in his knowledge (and the perfection of his attainments). His worth and position would be in accordance with the status of knowledge and attainments he holds. Eyes that are conscious of real values do not look at the face, features, tallness of stature, size or worldly pomp and position but look at the attainments of a person and assess his worth according to these attainments. The conclusion is that a man should strive to acquire distinction and knowledge.
The worth of every person is according to the extent of his knowledge.
