In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
1. By the night when it spreads its veil,
2. By the day when it shines,
3. By Him Who created the male and the female;
4. Verily your striving is to diverse (ends)!
5. Then as for him who gives (alms) and fears God,
6. And believes in the best (of religions),
7. We will then smoothen the path to bliss for him.
8. And as for him who acts niggardly and deems himself free from need,
9. And he belies the best,
10. We will then smoothen for him the path to affliction,
11. And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes.
12. Verily on Us (depends) the guidance,
13. And verily Ours is the hereafter and the beginning;
14. So I warn you of the Fire that flames,
15. None shall be cast into it save the most wretched,
16. (He) who falsifies (the truth) and turns back (to it),
17. And he who fears God shall be far removed therefrom,
18. Who gives his wealth away and purifies himself.
19. None has (done) to Him any favour, that he should be recompensed,
20. Save the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High,
21. And soon shall he be fully content.
